I can't believe I didn't get a box. of course I want a box.
Banana Walnut French Toast - fresh baked banana walnut bread dipped in cinnamon, vanilla egg batter, grilled and topped with sliced bananas and walnuts, served with warm maple syrup
Yes, it's as good (or better) than it sounds. And-THE best biscuits I've ever had in my life. I never even dreamed biscuits could taste this good. I ate this 6 hours ago and I'm still not hungry. That, and I'm too afraid to eat something else and have this not be the last thing I ate for fear I'd forget just how divine it was.

when will kids realize how good they have it? i can't count the number of times i've wished i had someone around to brush my teeth for me.

three cheers for mama! or it's been a very long year!
Today is my mom's very last chemo session for her lymphoma (please bless). Basically anything good in me or in my life is because of the efforts of my mom and my dad. So to see her go through something hard and painful has been filled with a high volume and great variety of emotion. It's not entirely over and there will be evidence of this year for the rest of my life. But I am very happy that she will not have to go sit in a recliner and have a 'chemo cocktail' pumped through her veins for hours every two weeks anymore. I wonder how her hair will look when it comes back. Last time it was so dark. And I can't wait for our much anticipated getaway to somewhere far and lovely to relax and enjoy. I just really love my mom. I think I'll take myself to dinner and give myself the red plate, in celebration. Is that allowed?

My lunch is packed, my shoes tied tight
On November 19, 2005 I was sitting at cafĂ© west in Provo with Tom Perry. We were on our first date. (I know, like that was ever going to work out—I still ‘member that I was wearing a brown and other colors sweater, the blue vans Matt and Amy had bought me just that day for my birthday and my hair was half up. We saw Walk the Line, ate birthday ice cream at the hospital, and drove around forever and ever) But anyway, we were just talking over our $1 ice cream and he asked me what I want to do, really really and I just said ‘I want to own a press.’ I had no idea that’s what I wanted. I mean, I did, I guess, but I’d never said it aloud. But it makes perfect perfect sense. I love paper. I love typography. I love color. I love pattern. I love old things. I love making things. I love cutting things. So, duh. Letterpress. Since then, I’ve dreamed and talked and planned about this magical letterpress I’m going to own and operate. Today I start my first letterpress class up at the U. I am beyond excited. Oh, this will also explain the links list ‘just you wait ‘enry ‘iggins’. Cuz, you know, that’ll be me soon. Right? I’m nervous to go to school again.

one pound oreos, one cup chocolate chips, one can sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 gallon of ice cream and two cubes of butter
Monday was Cousin Mike's (24th) birthday. (he was in such a good birthday mood in his new birthday shirt that he was giving out birthday hugs!) So after their attempts at polishing off the biggest burritos in the world (the kind where they give you free dessert if you finish it-since you'll prolly be hungry for dessert?), the crew all came over for some Mud Pie. (see post title for recipe) It was delightful to fill my new home with so many people that I like! Naturally, we didn't bother with plates and just went right to it. (Really, if you don't even have chairs, why bother with plates?)
And naturally, (seeing as Casey and Courtney were both present) the lights got turned off (and the music up). And, naturally, (seeing as it was his birthday) Mike started dancing. He found his sweet spot over by the swamp cooler. Here's a little taste of what a treat it was: (I know it's horizontal, but trust me, it's worth the kink in your neck)
And naturally, since seating is limited, sharing was encouraged (?):
After everyone left, I looked at our counter and saw this:
(the cream from one pound of oreos) and I had three thoughts: -no wonder we have ants -I miss carrie (she'd eat this) -all we do is party.
Happy Birthday, Cuz!

screamo-ing along to dashboard confessional while driving across town with a friend is still as cleansing as it was eight years ago.
the facts:
-the first Dashboard song I heard was Unnoticed. It was the year 1999. I was hooked. No one understood me like he did.
-this is one of 2 tee shirts i owned (neither of which i paid for):
-this is one of 2 (signed) posters i owned:
-I saw Dashboard 4 times in concert. The last time being in the year 2003 (with Jay Nilsson). I only paid once.
-I used to think I really had a chance at dating Chris C.
-I used to be good at getting boys to want to take me to concerts and buy me overpriced band merch

Pranksters Tip Cars on their Sides
August 4th, 2007 @ 9:54pm

(KSL News) West Jordan Police are looking for the people who pulled off a very expensive prank during the early morning hours Saturday.
It seems an unknown number of vandals went through several neighborhoods and started tipping over cars. Some, like a Mercury Tracer, were left on their sides. Police say another vehicle was on its roof. In all, 14 cars were damaged!
Barbara Davies said, "Then at 6:30 a jogger knocked on our door and she said, 'Do you know your car is on its side?' What? And so we went out and saw it, and it was like a cow tipping, only much more expensive and very obnoxious."
Because of the amount of damage, the people involved could be charged with felonies. Police say the vandals struck betwen 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. A white sedan, possibly a Chevy Impala was seen in the area.
Anyone with information should call the West Jordan Police.

my view at the ryan adam's show last night
It's just that the moving trees/clouds were much more engaging than anything happening on stage. Except, of course, for the paper lanterns. And I liked this lighting change:
It was just a pleasant evening of lying on the grass with some pleasant music in the background. I'm glad I bought my ticket a long, long time ago so that I felt like it was just another free outdoor concert and I could just lay there and feel pleasant despite my inability to focus on any music that was happening due to the 30 people/minute walking in front of me, the constant chatter or the full meals (i didn't know we could bring anything we could ever want into this place) being consumed all around me.
decopauging light switch covers is even more awesome than it sounds (unless it sounds SO awesome to you, then you're spot on)
